Having set up my own business a couple of years ago, a quick but upscale lunch is something I’m always on the lookout for, especially central locations such as the Mango Tree in Souk Al Bahar, Dubai.
Having already been several times to this beautifully located venue overlooking the Dubai Fountains and impressive Burj Khalifa, I was looking forward to the recently launched three course lunch and I was not disappointed.

The menu offered a two course and a three course option at AED 79 and AED 99 respectively and there were several dishes to choose from. I opted for ‘satay nua’ to start which is a marinated beef satay served with peanut sauce, while my partner choose the fresh and healthy salmon salad with lemongrass, red onion, chili and spicy lime dressing. The flavours in the latter were simply delicious and the beef was succulent and inviting. Both portions were fairly substantial in size. For the mains, we both chose fish – the baked hammour with spicy mango and coriander salsa for me and the steamed sea bass with Tom Yum and a spicy lime sauce for my partner. Again, the portion sizes were incredibly generous especially the sea bass which was enough for two! Both dishes were beautifully and simply cooked with the condiments adding the flavours. With mains coming with steamed or egg-fried rice, we were more than full but we still managed to sample dessert. Dark chocolate mousse with mango and a fresh fruit salad with lychee ice-cream finished off the meal nicely. For AED 99, the quality and taste of the food was exceptional and while it wasn’t particularly busy when we went, the outdoor terrace with its incredible views more than makes up for it.
